HotPixelRemover
HotPixelRemover detects and removes hot pixels from your images using the "dark frame technique." Hot pixels are unwanted bright dots that show up in dark or shaded areas; the dark frame (or "black frame") technique traditionally uses an exposure taken with the lens cap on, keeping the shutter open for the same length of time. The software subtracts the black image from the actual image so that the hot pixels, which are the same in each exposure, cancel each other out.
With HotPixelRemover you need to take a series of dark frames to cater for different image capture settings then load them into the program. Removing hot pixels then becomes an automatic process.
How badly your camera is afflicted by hot pixels? HotPixelRemover tells you. The problem usually increases as a camera ages -- and the software allows you to keep track of your camera's performance in this respect over time, saving your analysis results in XML and HTML formats. .
Comment
Highly effective at taking out hot pixels from images of various sizes, HotPixelRemover looks at many parameters, including: camera make and model, image size, color or monochrome, ISO value, digital zoom value, exposure time, focal length value, and the date and time when the image was taken. The more dark frames you generate the better.
If you do a lot of night photography, HotPixelRemover will save time spent on "spotting out" hot pixels individually.
