National Press Photographers Association

The National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) dedicates itself to the advancement of visual journalism, its creation, practice, training, editing and distribution, across all news media including news photography, video and multimedia. It is this professional diversity that sets it apart from other organizations.

History

The NPPA was founded in 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts, with the cry: "We're no longer going to permit ourselves to be relegated to the position of unwelcome, but necessary, stepchildren of the Fourth Estate."

Activities

The NPPA publishes "News Photographer Magazine," hosts eight national and regional workshops on photography and television, compiles a job information bank, keeps an AV Library and runs an e-commerce store that sells instructional materials worldwide.
