Photographic Society of America

The Photographic Society of America (PSA) is a large organization of individual photo enthusiasts and camera clubs. It provides over 100 services and activities to its members in the United States and internationally. Anyone can become a member. All you need is an interest in photography -- at any level from beginner to skilled professional. Clubs appoint a single representative to be the point of primary communication between the club and the PSA.

Services

The PSA has seven divisions: Pictorial Print, Color Projected Image, Nature, Photo Travel, Photojournalism, Electronic Imaging, and Stereo. The organization provides courses in photography; technical information; instructional slide sets, DVDs and videos; critique and evaluation services; group workshops; national, regional and local photo seminars; print, slide, digital essay competitions, and many others.

Resources

If you want to find a photo club in North America, the PSA website is a good starting point. It has an extensive list of camera clubs (see also directory). The PSA publishes the oldest consumer photographic magazine in the US: the PSA Journal, with "how to" articles, book reviews, and examples of outstanding photography.
