Royal Photographic Society

The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) is one of the world's leading photographic institutions. Anyone can join. It is an educational charity, the aim of which is to promote the art and science of photography. Members can win the Society's Distinctions: namely, one of three levels, Licentiateship, Associateship, and Fellowship, according to knowledge and practical ability.

History

Historically, the Royal Photographic Society was informally discussed in 1851, formed as The Photographic Society in 1853, granted the "royal" designation by Queen Victoria, but did not have a Royal Charter until 2004

Events

The RPS holds 250 events each year and has specialist groups that focus on digital imaging, nature photography, imaging science, and many more.
