Stock Artists Alliance
Founded in 2001 in response to an "unnegotiable contract" issued to photographers by Getty Images, the Stock Artists Alliance (SAA) is a trade association devoted to the business of stock photography. It works on behalf of all stock photographers, encouraging fair contracts, ethical behavior and good business practics. It has merged with the Alliance of Visual Artists (AVA), an umbrella organization representing several photographic associations and some 45,000 professional photographers worldwide.
Campaigns
SAA works on behalf of all stock photographers, encouraging fair contracts, ethical behavior and good business practice. It monitors the industry and conducts investigative studies. It also shows up bad practice, such as when the three top Internet providers in France -- Wandaoo, CEGETEL and EstVideo -- featured the same $159, "no royalty" image purchased from Digital Vision on their website home pages at the same time.
Open Resources
If you register, SAA offers plenty of Open Resources about the stock business, including publications, reports, screencasts and software.
