Canto Single User
Canto Single User is a digital asset management tool for creative professionals and serious amateurs. It lets you catalog, organize, find and share digital assets such as images, layouts, multimedia, video, audio, and text.
Canto Single User is a particularly powerful solution for photographers, with support for over RAW file formats, Exif, IPTC, and XMP metadata formats, as well as professional ICC-approved Image Color Management (ICM). Cataloging is assisted by a drag & drop option, with bulk cataloging supported. There is no limit to the number of files you can archive. Canto Single User creates a record for each cataloged digital file and provides a readout of the information associated with it. Search facilities allow you to search by keyword or any other metadata information. For sharing images, it has custom slide show creation, WebAlbum publishing, and customizable printing layouts.
Canto Single User includes Pixel Image Converter, a feature that allows you to convert any cataloged image, on-the-fly, into: JPEG, TIFF, BMP, ScitexCT, PNG, PCX, or PDF.

It started as Canto Single User, became Mediadex, then reverted to being Canto Single User -- because it clearly suffered by no longer enjoying the same brand name as the well-known DAM system, Canto Cumulus. However, the developer still keeps this version for individual photographers at arm's length under a separate URL, while also selling it via distributors such as CDS Gromke; DataBasics; and Idéa.
Canto Single User should be on any photographer's shortlist of asset management tools. It can create catalogs as large as 4GB in size and these can be multi-platform compatible catalogs (Win, Mac). On the output side, you can print to PDF without Acrobat, create multiple printing layouts and tweak the image with a built-in image editor (crop, blur, resize,...) with live preview.
