Photo-Brush

Its name suggests that one of its strengths is photo retouching - and this is true. However, Photo-Brush is much more than a retouching tool because so many features have been added in successive editions. It is also an image editor, capable of adjusting levels, gamma, curves, hue/saturation and brightness/contrast; a painting program with texture, artistic, natural and 3D brushes; scanning software with TWAIN 32 support and auto-dust removal; a texture and special effects generator; and an image browser.

Photo-Brush supports RAW images from over 100 cameras, has barrel and pincushion distortion correction, and chromatic aberration removal. Its retouching capabilities include red-eye removal, auto color changing, whole object removal with a special bridge tool, and brushes to clean skin tones, lighten or darken the image and remove scratches.

Comment

Photo-Brush is quick to start and offers many quite sophisticated features like Color lab which lets you work in natural color spaces to create vivid images. Its developer Roman "Oscar" Voska has added what he calls "fun tools" such as Liquid Warp, Little Planet (Stereographic Projection), and Fractal Droste effect (image-within-image).

Yet there are also many pro-level tools including chromatic aberration, lens distortion correction and the above-mentioned color spaces. There is huge competition in among image editors, but Photo-Brush has its followers and is worth a look.
