PTLens

This low-cost utility corrects most kinds of lens distortion on images taken with point-and-shoot (P&S) cameras for which lens profiles are available. It can make very accurate corrections to the three main types of distortion: barrel distortion, pincushion distortion, and complex distortion.

Complex distortion is a combination of the other two main types and can be hard to correct. PTLens makes a better job of it than most image editors, providing one slider control to correct barrel distortion at the center of an image and another to correct pincushion problems at the edges.

Comment

If you are looking for a low-cost solution for correcting common geometric distortion, this could well be the best package for you. Many amateur photographers with P&S cameras find it is all they need to make dramatic improvements to their photographs.

Although PTLens lacks many of the features of DxO Optics Pro, it comes at a fraction of the price. However, for DSLRs with their detachable lenses you really need the DxO product.
