EZ Mask
EZ Mask is an easy-to-use masking tool from a vendor of professional movie matting software. It has the ability to cut out a foreground object from the background, regardless of what is depicted in the image. Once you have created a mask you can then composite the object with an alternative background and blend the two seamlessly together.
EZ Mask is quick in operation: you draw broad brushstrokes around the image to create samples which the software uses to calculate the difference between foreground and background pixels. The technique requires no precise drawing skills whatsoever. Once the software has the information it generates the mask automatically.

With this powerful software it makes no difference whether you are dealing with fine hair detail, smoke, or reflections, EZ Mask can separate any of them from the background.
EZ Mask is designed for challenging tasks and it has a price to match. If you merely want to separate opaque objects that have a clear outline you do not need such a powerful product: the vendor's Snap tool should be adequate.
