Recomposit
Recomposit is a masking and recomposing package that allows you to isolate difficult subjects from their backgrounds. It uses traditional Chromakey ("bluescreen") technology to separate foreground from background by their difference in the hue (chroma) channel.
Recomposit supports inside/outside matting for those instances when bluescreen matting is not feasible, such as in real-life images captured outdoors. It can also simulate lens blur in the background and has painting and retouching facilities.
Comment
By combining two advanced matting methods, Recomposit is very likely to succeed in making a clean job of separating subject and background. Its inside/outside matting, in particular, is highly effective. If you do a lot of masking, you might consider downloading this software for a month's free trial. Should you decide to buy it, it's a lot less expensive than many of the pro packages mentioned in this section.
