Noiseware

Imagenomic's Noiseware noise reduction software ("The Better Way to Remove Noise") has a learning capability that accustoms itself to the various types of picture taken by the photographer. This means that the more you process images in Noiseware, the better it gets.

Using Exif data Noiseware identifies image variables such as acquisition device parameters and shooting conditions, then builds a noise profile which it constantly adjusts as it obtains further information from the images it processes. Over time, this self-learning feature significantly improves the quality of noise processing.

To keep noise at bay, Nik Software's User Guide mentions "4 Golden Rules," namely: 1) turn off in-camera noise reduction, 2) turn off in-camera sharpening, 3) use flash in low light, and 4) avoid above-average in-camera contrast settings.

Comment

Noiseware achieves its excellent results without recourse to using camera profiles. It relies instead on the self-learning mechanism in the vendor's IntelliProfile algorithm to calibrate precision noise profiles and choose the best settings for individual images.

Highly acclaimed by magazine editors for its ease of use, speed and effectiveness, Noiseware succeeds in reducing visible noise without discarding image detail. For photojournalists on a tight deadline its batch processing capability is much appreciated.
