PureImage NR
PureImage NR is wavelet-based noise reduction software that allows you to fine-tune both the NR level and edge sharpness. The vendor claims that it achieves better results than you would get with older algorithms that were developed before digital cameras appeared.
PureImage NR has specialist modes for dealing with outdoor images, portraits, and very noisy images produced by high ISO settings. It also works in scanner mode, removing moiré patterns from high resolution scans. Its color matching and correction tools include adjustment for shadows and highlights, exposure compensation, color boost and a color temperature filter.
Comment
PureImage NR works very well -- for example, it adjusts its processing to each area of the image, applying stronger reduction to areas of smooth color (such as skies) than to textured areas (such as trees).
However, PureImage NR does not match the profiling features of the latest (and admittedly more expensive) software that adjusts its processing according to the characteristics of individual camera models.
