Autodesk Stitcher Unlimited
Autodesk Stitcher Unlimited (formerly REALVIZ Stitcher) represents a comprehensive approach to panoramic imaging, including the production of high-quality panoramas for the web, film, print, and 3D. Whether you want to produce large format prints or create a virtual tour for an estate agent, this software has the answer. It provides a 5-step workflow: image import, stitching, alignment, touch-up and rendering.
Autodesk Stitcher Unlimited is compatible with many lenses, from 185° fish-eye to rectilinear formats. It also supports HDR image import and generation, and import of existing panoramas. With it, you can create partial or spherical panoramas in just a few clicks. There is completely automatic stitching of overlapping pictures shot from a single point of view, but a manual option is also provided.
You can remove artifacts and correct ghosting and lens flare using the Stencil toolset. Autodesk Stitcher Unlimited works in conjunction with Adobe Photoshop for retouching purposes, but it has its own automatic color correction. A crop tool lets you define a specific render zone. The projection modes include flat, spherical, cylindrical, and cubical.
Comment
Even before this software moved to Autodesk it had won rave reviews from magazines and websites. It is hard to think of anything that is obviously missing in this top-of-the-range package.
The cut-down editions of this software have been abandoned in favor of the all-singing/dancing Unlimited edition with its support for fisheye lenses, cubic image output, and publishing facilities.
The good news: the price is now much more competitive than it was a year or two back.
