Autopano Giga
Autopano Giga enables you to create panoramas, virtual tours and gigapixel images, stitching thousands of images into 360° panoramas, then exporting them into Flash virtual tours that can be linked together. It is based on Autopano Pro, but it goes beyond Autopano Pro's capabilities with the inclusion of Autopano Tour, that enables you to generate complete and interactive virtual tours in Flash format.
Most of Autopano's other features are identical to those in the standard software, including "Smartblend" technology to remove ghosting effects and the color correction scheme to equalize the color and exposure of the component images. Both software packages can cope with a huge variety of file types: over 400 file types in input, including the camera RAW files of most manufacturers. Both of them also support Gigapan, Merlin and all Papywizard-compatible panoramic heads. In addition, Autopano Giga also supports Clauss Rodeon panoheads.
Comment
Although most photographers will be content with Autopano Pro which already has the capability to assemble gigapans, you need Autopano Giga if you want to go on and make virtual tours.
Autopano software has found applications in areas beyond those envisaged by the developers -- for example in astronomy where its alignment accuracy and powerful blender have been used to great effect to create detailed images of the Moon and planets. It is also used by special effects companies for location scouting because it can generate highly detailed HDR backgrounds.
