PanoStitcher
PanoStitcher lets you create a 360° panorama from overlapping photos taken from the same fixed location, even if you have not used a tripod. The vendor claims: "It is the first stitching software to be fully functional for real life situations."
PanoStitcher offers both manual and automatic stitching modes; allows you to add or remove component images at any time; can stitch images that have been zoomed to different lengths; automatically balances brightness levels between images; and outputs the final image either for the web or for print.
Online tutorials at the vendor's site are helpful in explaining the procedure of creating a panorama, step-by-step. By going through this material you will come across all the issues that face the panoramic photographer, from straightening the horizon to coping with the movements of people within the scene.
Comment
PanoStitcher is a competent and highly forgiving image stitching package that makes a good point-of-entry into panoramic photography. Its automatic stitching facility is not foolproof, but is not markedly worse than the same facility in many other stitching software packages.
PanoStitcher offers a choice of manual stitching methods to compensate for any errors that occur automatically. There is even a basic virtual tour authoring feature (often a costly addition to pano software). If you are looking for a low-cost package for stitching large images (not necessarily panoramic ones) PanoStitcher is well worth trying.
