ColorBurst X·Photo

ColorBurst X·Photo is a PostScript Level 3 compatible RIP for fine art and photography printing. It allows you to print directly from an image-editing or a layout application, such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Quark XPress. One of it key features is Job Management, normally only found in more expensive RIP applications, with a Hot Folder that is accessible across a network. You can reorder, delete, or place jobs on temporary hold.

ColorBurst X·Photo is part of the ColorBurst Queue Series, which also includes X·Proof with PANTONE matching for design proofing; X·Proof Plus with custom spot colors, color bars, and job titles for proofing and certification. It ships with the SpectralVision Pro full-featured ICC profiling software package.

Comment

To use ColorBurst X·Photo properly you need a spectrophotometer to create a linearization test target with the aid of the SpectralVision Pro package. The RIP will then linearize the printer automatically.

To make a custom CMYK profile for the printer is somewhat more involved, but it is essential if you want to maximize the quality of each ink/media combination. With these color management procedures in place, ColorBurst X·Photo produces consistently great prints.
