PixelRibs McFilters
PixelRibs McFilters use the selection mask as part of the filtering process to create unusual special effects, each of which has been given the prefix "Mc". This has nothing to do with Macintosh but stands for "Mask Controlled." Hence, the McClouds filter uses the selection mask to modulate the frequency and visibility of 2D "clouds" (fractal noise). McGamma applies gamma correction to the image, modulating the gamma parameter with the selection mask.
The other features are McTwirl, McSharpen, McBlur, McGel, McHue, McMotionBlur, McLens, McZoomBlur, McScatter, McCels and McTurbulence. They all share a consistent user interface that is easy for anyone to operate.
Comment
All of these effects are intriguing, one or two are outstanding. McTurbulence may sound like a truculent Glaswegian but is actually a special effect created by modulating the turbulence parameter of the selection mask.
McFilters use the mask sometimes as a height map (as in McGel and McLens), or again as a weight map (McBlur and McMotionBlur). Developed in Croatia, the PixelRibs McFilters are an original contribution to the world of photo software.
